BACs Payments

Hi,

So I recently switched my bank to Monzo and with it, my salary, mainly to use the paid early option. This did not come through and upon speaking to Monzo they have no record of any upcoming BACs payments. I also checked my old bank who advised the same. The payroll lady is on holiday at the mo (has set them up in advance) I asked our receptionist who confirmed these are BACs.

Is there any reason a BACs payment for Monday wouldn’t be showing as due to arrive today? By Monday it’s a bit late as my bills will start to bounce back and payroll aren’t in, plus my manager isn’t the most compassionate haha.

From Nationwide but I did it through payroll rather than a switch service.

Ok, thought it might have been Clydesdale who have had issues.

Are you 100% sure the sort code and account number given to payroll dept were correct. When did you change accounts with your payroll?

Definitely correct - used a link on the app which automatically emails it, plus double checked it today and it’s absolutely correct. Changed it on 18th December and payroll said they’d processed it same day.

This is the danger of the Monzo Pay early.

Have other staff members been paid?

If you are saying that this was to debit on 6 Jan. Then it is possible that it will still come through later today. There is no way a bank can see incoming bacs/faster payments till they hit the account.

Always need a few days between payment coming in to bills going out. Just in case of errors.

Presumably 'pay early' would only work with bacs - if a payroll payment was paid via faster payments rather than bacs there would be no 'earlier' payment
