I don’t drive/have a license or anything... Plus I spend £99 average on bus fare a month so I guess if I decided to learn to drive etc whilst I made the token payments that would balance out anyway.
At the moment I feel bankruptcy is going to be the best option. I think I will relook the SOA and maybe post it on the bankruptcy main board for advice?
I’m quite stuck on how much I actually spend as up until August I lived rent free with my exes parents, was very unrealistic on what I was spending. Traumas happened - alcohol addiction followed and relationship break up, long periods off sick from work leading me to getting help and moving out with my child. So I can see I am definitely going to have to budget and be more realistic with either option but my number one priority is making this whole situation as comfortable as possible for my child . I want to be realistic about my budget but also have enough if I end up paying IPA for my child not to suffer too much.
Not saying this for people to feel sorry for me. I know we all have our demons and life events happen. I take full responsibility for my spending but as I say I’m facing it now and need to work our what’s best for my child.0 -
Don`t beat yourself up over it, finding the right debt solution is just the same as finding a solution to any other problem, its all dependant on personal circumstances, your income and expenditure etc,
Sometimes more than one solution presents itself, but going bankrupt for 16k seems a tad extreame to me, but again, its all down to how you feel about it, if it would take away the stress of debt, then so be it, the only thing to remember is not to get into this situation again, as most bankrupts have been that way more than once.
Bankrupcy should be viewed as a new start, and the re-start of a life to be lived within your means, not everyone can achieve this, you may want to take the oppertunity to address the smoking/drinking issues as well, a new start all round may be just what you need.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
