Can anyone help?
My dad died in November
The house he lived in with my mum was only in his name.
He has left it to her
We went to the Solicitor today but he said we need a Grant of Probate and quoted £1200 - £1500 to put the house into mums name.
Can we apply for the Grant of Probate ourselves? Or is their pitfalls to us applying.
Thank you for anyone able to help

I'd suggest giving it a go yourself, especially if his estate is fairly simple. Check out the guide to probate on this site. I tried to provide a link but wasn't permitted for some reason.
Sorry for your loss. My dad died in November too.0 -
Have a word with the Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/contact-hm-land-registry
They are always helpful and indeed one of their representatives answers questions (sometimes) on this forum.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
