Galliford Try

Anyone know what has happened with Galliford Try, have I lost money or gained
"The Board of Galliford Try plc ("Galliford Try") is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Bovis Homes Group PL".
I had 56 shares which were worth around £500, my HL account is saying that I still have 56 shares, it states that they cost me £73, now worth £96 and I am in profit by 30%
It seems that I also own £420 worth of Bovis shares

You basically ended up with approx 0.5739521 Bovis shares for every GT share held. Then you are going to get given a 'New' GT share too, representing the smaller GT company after it sold its homes business to Bovis. (as an aside, Bovis Homes Group plc will now be rebranded to Vistry Group plc, and operate the Bovis and Linden Homes brands).
The ratio of the costs of those shares that you now hold (GT and Bovis) should really (not that it matters if you are doing this inside an ISA or pension account) be split based on what the two sets of shares that you now hold were worth immediately after the reorganisation.
FWIW at AJ Bell Youinvest they have allocated about 47% of my cost to the Bovis shares, and showing the Bovis shares in gain and the GT ones in loss. But I don't really mind what they do as I'm never going to be trying to do tax calcs with the cost or proceeds figures - they're just in my SIPP.
If you reckon you now have shares worth 96+420, that's still 'worth around £500' in my book, though I didn't check what they were worth yesterday. A little up on last week probably.0 -

GT worth worth £507 in Oct they are now GT = £96 and Bovis = £418 still a little down from when I purchased them.0 -
When you add the two numbers together to make £514, don't you get a number that's more than the £507 from when you first purchased them?sevenhills wrote: »GT worth worth £507 in Oct they are now GT = £96 and Bovis = £418 still a little down from when I purchased them.
FWIW, I bought mine in the first half hour after the general election result so 15%+ up

Ah I see, you had talked about them being worth about £500, later clarified as the £507 as of few months ago, and in your OP had asked 'have I lost money or gained' with no other historic 2018 cost mentioned...
The Bovis deal was announced November, so if they were worth £507 in October and worth more than that now, I would answer the 'what has happened with Galliford Try, have I lost money or gained?' with a 'you have gained'
