Klarna / Schuh

I ordered a pair of shoes from Schuh on Boxing day for £43.
They offered the possibility of paying for it in instalments via Klarna, which I declined because I have absolutely no need to borrow such a small amount of money.
I got an email today from Credit Karma saying my credit score had fallen by 4 points, and the only new things I could see on the credit report were some insurance quotation searches for my home insurance, which I do every year; and a credit quotation search from Klarna on Boxing Day.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've raised a dispute with TransUnion who provide the Credit Karma service.
I checked also ClearScore (Equifax) and MSE Credit Club (Experian), and no searches appear on either of those.

  • A quotation search is a soft search so lenders won't see it.

Don't worry about your score dropping - no one sees it but you.

    Hi,

Credit scores are manufacured in the fiction factory, do credit reference agencies lend money ? no they don`t.

Do creditors see the score generated by the CRA`s ?
no they don`t, so its of no consequence.

The number you see is generated by the CRA in order to sell you credit improvement products such as the services they offer, or their partner companies, they are credit brokers.

Similar questions to this get asked every, single day, the sticky thread at the top of this forum explains what your credit score really means.

Klarna only do a hard search if you use their slice it option which is paying it over 3 months. The pay it later option which gives you 30 days doesn't require a hard credit check.

It would be very clear if you were signing up to a credit agreement with them so I wouldn't worry.
