CRP Claim dismissed can I appeal the decision

I made my application for PPI rather hurriedly on deadline day. I had an Egg credit card when I was employed by Somerfield. I knew I had a claim as I was not told that it had PPI on the card.
I filled in the form from the Canada Square website and submitted it myself.
On the 26th November they wrote to me and stated that the claim for CRP was rejected but the claim for Plevin was upheld.
The Plevin total is circa £1,800. I do not know, and they have not told me, what the CRP claim is worth.
In their rejection they have accepted flaws in their sales process. But have determined that despite this, I would still have taken out the policy given my limited financial means and no other ways to protect the repayments. I do not believe this is accurate, as had I known what the CRP was I would not have taken it out as I have never done so previously Or since.
Although at the time I was of very little means, although any debts would have been covered by my parents had it got so bad. They also rejected this argument As there is no duty for my parents to pay.
If I refer my complaint to the ombudsman am I able to add more information and dispute their reasons.
If I am unsuccessful with the Ombudsman I am guessing I would not lose my Previn claim.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are successful with the ombudsman you will get the amount of redress for a successful complaint less the Plevin award. Cash the cheque, it's not going to hurt.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

'Not knowing' you had it is one of the weakest arguments there is. Every statement you had told you how much PPI was being charged.
Your parents bailing you out is equally as weak and frankly irrelevant.0 -

It was on every statement with an outstanding balanceImnotguiltyreally wrote: »The Plevin total is circa £1,800. But you did this time, it was on every statement, it would have been in the literature they sent you.Imnotguiltyreally wrote: »Although at the time I was of very little means, although any debts would have been covered by my parents had it got so bad. Being of little means means you did have a need for it They are right, your parents financial situation is not relevant.Imnotguiltyreally wrote: »If I refer my complaint to the ombudsman am I able to add more information and dispute their reasons.
Yes. Better start thinking of better ones.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Better start thinking of better ones.
Under no circumstance should the OP attempt to make anything up.
In addition, "better" reasons are usually purely factual and will usually need to be backed up by documentary evidence.
Having no need of the insurance usually involves work-related benefits or a very large pot of savings. Being unable to claim on the insurance normally means things like pre-existing medical conditions or being retired or being a full time student at the time of the sale.
If any of these reasons do apply, then the OP should expect to be called upon to prove it..0 -
As per above, parents as a means of repayment is worthless. It’s partner or nothing for most lenders.
Also as per above, it would be foolish to start adding untrue (I.e. fraudulent) complaint points in now if they simply didn’t apply to you to try and get the complaint overturned at FOS.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
