Changing Reg Plate

Looking to change to number plate on my car and noticed that the plate I want is £155 on PrivatePlates but £250 on the DVLA site.

Is there a reason for the difference? Do I have to do anything differently if I buy from PrivatePlates?

Anyone any experience or can offer advice ?

    The other site’s price won’t include VAT or the £80 transfer fee whereas the DVLA’s price will.

    By the time these are added on, the £155 becomes £266.

    I found that by the time the tranfer fee was added in, the website sellers worked out to similar price to the DVLA, but the process is the same - can all be done online once you have the certificate to hand

    Let's put it this way... If DVLA list it, then it's with them now. And they don't give the resellers discounts.
