Hi yes tap icon illuminates and preasure does go up but water remains cold

Does the burner light? There are a few things that could be at fault, minimum gas pressures, diverters not moving. I’d be getting someone in to look.

Yes burner does ignite, we had the boiler last serviced in May before we moved in and all was fine for anyone asking this question
We have had an engineer out and he can't see what's obviously wrong without further investigation but has suggested a new boiler may be the way to go as ours is the baxi combi 105e and is now pretty old
    Thanks for suggestions everyone

I would look at cost before you decide a new boiler. The 105e isn’t complicated and parts readily available!! There a a few normal problems these experience. Get a second opinion. It will be fixable.

Right so we have British gas coming out tomorrow but I have been having a little look myself as I am fed up of having to use the kettle to fill the bath 🙈😂
I've looked and can see that the pin is coming out of the diverter valve when I turn the hot water on, does this tell me its not the diaphragm? I was going to pop to plumbers merchants and grab one but if the pin is pushing out and in does this mean I don't need one?
We have also taken out the on going cover with BG for future but a hate being defeated and love to do things on my own! (if within my means!)

So you'll need a new boiler then.
