Your link takes you to the same 6.25% and doesn't mention anywhere the 5.5%, as far as I can see.

If you go to the Bucks BS home page, the only regular saver to be found is the 5.5% one. http://www.bucksbuildingsociety.co.uk/

I don't think they have removed the old link yet but Milarky has confirmed the old account has been pulled in this thread.

I've posted mine off earlier this week too. Does anyone know if they will accept the next few days worth or if it's now too late? Wouldnt it be fair if they dont give the application forms a few days to get to them as with the postal strike letters arent being delivered as quickly as they should! Noticed as I walked past a branch in London today that the poster in the window said something like:-

Open and fund account by October 3rd

So I guess the 5% rate is ending shortly - open soon if you want one!

Not necessarily - the previous set of posters said 'open and fund the account by September 6th'. It's just that they haven't decided what to do with the rate after 3rd October.

  • Hi Folks,

Okay, it is time for this weekend's update:

    - Stroud and Swindon BS Regular Saver Plus (Issue 2) account will be added to post 2 - launched today, this account pays 4.5% variable on £10 to £250 per month. You cannot miss any monthly payments but you can make 1 withdrawal per year. There is no time limit or maturity date on this account so you can keep adding to it until you reach the maximum balance of £20,000.

    - Buckinghamshire BS Chiltern Gold Mine Account (Issue 2) - posters in another thread report that you cannot hold this account and the issue 1 account at the same time

    Nothing else has changed.

Sorry about giving the old link in the post above about the Buckinghamshire BS account but I did put the correct link to issue 2 in post 4 last night.

At the moment, I am having difficulty editing my old posts (it is causing my browser to crash) but I shall keep trying and put the details above into posts 2 and 4 as soon as I can.

    All the best,
    SS2
  • Okay, I have managed to edit posts 2 and 4. If you are going to open the Stroud and Swindon BS account then I would suggest that you read the details that I have put in post 2, in particular the part about the "account month".

  • Just to say that Egg has dropped the savings rate for new accounts (accounts opened on 15 September 2009 or later) from 3.25% to 2.50%. This has been achieved by reducing the fixed 12-month introductory bonus from 2% to 1.25%, leaving the underlying variable rate at 1.25%.

Please update the "Best Feeder Accounts" section.
  • Just to follow on from the above post. I applied for an Egg Instant Access Savings account on 7th Sep when it was 3.25, but was unable to complete the application on line and have been waiting for the letter to arrive so I can complete this. As this account has now been reduced to 2.50 does anyone know where I stand with getting this account at the rate for which I made my application?

    Thanks

Contact them. I had a similar situation with last year's 6.3% account, for which I applied on the last day that it was available - contacted them by telephone and subsequently by message from their website, both communications confirmed that the rate which applied at the date of application would be honoured (I saved a copy of the message, naturally).
