sending bank statements to dwp.

Put your name and National Insurance number on every page of every document you send to them. It's a bit of a faff to do, but it's very easy for odd pages to become detached and then there is no way to know which claim they belong to.0

Hi tellitol.
Hi, thanks. I only have the bank statements to send with the esa3 form anyway but I'll put NI on them anyway.0 -
As previously said the DWP have pretty much lost everything I've sent them including my Partners latest work contract. What I forgot to say was I now take everything to the jobcentre who copy and scan it through to the correct dept, this is what I would recommend now.0

Hi matt, how does that work when I have to send the esa3 form off as well. Would I still send the form through the post and have bank statements copied by job centre, or can I hand in the form at the job centre as well?
does it matter that idon't attend any job centre as I am mostly housebound but I could get someone to take me?0 -
You were advised in your other thread to make an appointment at your local job centre to hand in the bank statements. See post #14 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6079429/esa3-form It doesn't matter if you don't attend the job centre, those that are in the Support Group never do.
At the same time you can also ask if they will accept the form as well. If not then send the form by post.0 -
All this worry just for an extra £1 a week.
Although from your other thread your historic arrears entitlement appears to be low this is also to get you onto an income based top up going forward which will be worth more in the future when your transitional protection ends in April.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Ok will do. Thanks.0

Just a suggestion: why not photocopy the statements and send in the photocopies along with a covering letter to say that if they need the originals to contact you?
It's rare that the DWP require original documents these days. As mentioned above, they are all scanned anyway so the DM won't see the originals.0 -
Thanks Robbie, I'll just have to choose one way or the other as either way fills me with dread. Either sending up to 8 statements with all my private details on through the post and worrying about fraud and identity theft or going to job centre to scan them (which terrifies me as I suffer severe social anxiety in situations like this).
Thanks everyone for their advice though.0 -
If you are concerned, redact entries they have no need to know about (i.e. whereabouts you have been purchasing) and bank account number. If they ask for that, tell them you will send it in separate cover. I redact everything that they have no business knowing.0
