Trouble building credit

Hi, I'm 32 and once had very good credit, I had issues in my life and things went downhill and I started to bury my head in the sand and unfortunately debt built up. I have since sorted my life and have repayed/in process of repaying the creditors. I would like to rebuild my credit just so I will have something to fall back on in emergencies etc but I've been looking at eligibility checkers and they all say no, even for a rebuilding credit card! Will I ever be able to get credit again? Is it just a waiting game whist I repay and it will gradually get better? I know it has ever so slightly got better as a credit report company told me as there was no new activity etc. Can anyone advise? It's been around 3 years since I've sorted things out. Thanks.

Have you tried an eligibility checker for one of the sub-prime credit cards? (Such as CapitalOne, Aqua or Vanquis)
Edit: And welcome to the forumI work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Yes, you'll be able to get credit again.
Try for a sub prime card every couple of months. Make sure you're on the ER. Check you three files for any negatives that still need fixing.

Definitely check through your reports with a fine-tooth comb to see that all the addresses match and are up to date, and that you're on the electoral roll. I am surprised that subprime cards are saying no, which is why I suspect something in that report is not up-to-date. But if they are, it's just a waiting game - throw every penny that you can at those debts and be patient. You'll get there.0
