SORN in my driveway

I've got myself a new car which will arrive on Saturday, and in the meanwhile I'm waiting for my old car to be collected (I voluntarily ended my PCP agreement for the old car) - however I don't think this will happen before I get my new car.

For sake of simplicity I was thinking of contacting my insurance and transfer current policy to the new vehicle, as I won't be driving the old car anymore. In this case, and provided I keep the old car on my driveway, would I be able to make a SORN? Do I have to inform the finance company about this?

I'm sure the finance company will insist it's insured while you're still responsible for it. What would you do if it was stolen?

Who's the registered keeper of the old car, and who has the V5C?

What does the PCP contract say about your responsibility to keep the car insured and taxed at all times while it's in your possession?

What happens if the car is damaged or stolen while uninsured in your possession...?

How much would you actually save anyway? The RK won't get January's VED back - and your insurer will probably cover both cars short-term for minimal cost.

Actually I haven't contacted the current insurer yet - would make sense to do that actually. Thanks!

You might find that they cannot collect it if it is SORN.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Ended up adding a temporary insurance to my old car starting from the day I collect the new car. Thanks everybody.
