Get a Suzuki Swift and thank me later.

My girlfriend has an auto only license (I tried ..:rotfl:) and after two Minis that each died within 6 months has now got a brilliant 65 plate Swift. I love the thing.

We paid £8000 when we got it in September 2018 (3 years old) with something ridiculous like 16k miles on the clock. Traded the second Mini in for £2000 too which was a huge surprise considering you could barely drive the thing 100 metres without it crapping out.

I have a 2013 Hyundai i30 which I am also very fond of but that is a manual.
  • Depending on how far your budget stretches and given your lack of any knowledge with regard to cars, you could do worse than plump for an approved used hatchback.

Of course, you will pay a moderate premium for it but they usually come with full service history, full check and a year's warranty.
  • Ah that's an idea - thank you
