AA insurance auto renewal when I didn't opt for it

Well this seems to happen more than often with insurance companies when you opt to NOT have your insurance renewed but they still go ahead and auto renew. The AA have done this after I specifically opted not to auto renew. They quoted me a higher price which kicks in on the 9th and there is no way of emailing, tweeting (they can't cancel this via Twitter) unless you pay their premium rate phone line to cancel. Why is it that you can't get hold of these companies anymore like you used to by good old email ?:(
Its almost as annoying as Paypal one touch kicking in when you simply log into your account and never remember agreeing to any such thing.

It is not a secure communications method for important things.unless you pay their premium rate phone line to cancel
Since when do the AA have a premium rate number? Please can you provide evidence of this as that would be a rule breach. Why is it that you can't get hold of these companies anymore like you used to by good old email ?
Because insecure methods of communication have ever-increasing fraud. Its almost as annoying as Paypal one touch kicking in when you simply log into your account and never remember agreeing to any such thing.
Failing to remember is not the same as it not being there.0 -

they are not premium rate numbers, please clarify OP, give them a ring and let the insurance lapse or haggle"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

And in that communication stating the price it will have told you that if you don't contact them the policy will auto renew and if you don't want that to contact them and how to contact them. The contact method will be via phone. The phone number isn't premium rate.Well this seems to happen more than often with insurance companies when you opt to NOT have your insurance renewed but they still go ahead and auto renew.
