Well done for telling your OH Frank.
Good luck on your journey xx0 -
Thanks everyone
I have gone from feeling lonely on here to feeling like I have got an army behind me :rotfl:0 -
We're all in this together Frank, we each have our journey, but sharing it with other like-minded individuals is so helpful, and we can keep each other going, when things get tough or we hit a rocky patch...0

Hi everyone
,
Have had a pretty manic week in work so haven't been on here much. It has been a No Spend Week so far though as I have been taking soups to work with me
Jeez, after my last post on here where I told my partner (Or didn't as I have been told :undecided) I thought I would put a post up on the Debt Free Wannabe thread 'Opening up to partner about debt). Let's just say they aren't as nice as you lot on here that's for sure :rotfl: Reading some of the comments I felt like I was a naughty schoolboy having a row off the teacher
So that's a lesson learnt for the future! Stick to my happy place in this diary
Anyway, so where am I at? well I have had a few emails from credit card companies saying they are reducing my credit limit because I have missed a payment. My accounts are frozen until 27th Jan so my plan tonight is to hunt this site ( does anyone have a link please?) for the template letters to send to my creditors when it is getting close to that date so that I can let them know that I am still in the process of getting advise from SC. I am actually looking forward to my first default letter! How crazy does that sound :rotfl:
I really do want to just get these next few months out of the way, plough as much into my EF as I can afford and then get set up and on the road to recovery! I feel a bit in limbo at the moments, it's great that I am getting to save so much more than I ever have before but it really is the calm before the storm.
Hey Ho I will keep chipping away
Frank :beer:0 -
Sorry to hear you had a tough time on a different thread, hope you're OK, don't let it derail your efforts.
Not sure about your template letters but this is the huge thread about DRO's and advice and information, so there maybe something posted on there, or if you post someone more knowledgeable might be able to help you.
Keep plodding and building your EF/ have NSD's, that's all you can do right now:)0 -
Hi everyone
Today we’ve had a lovely day with DD. It has been horrendous weather this week but today it was dry :T even though it was below freezing! So we went to a new park and then for a walk around the local RSPC centre to see the cats & dogs
Also, it is payday on Monday, first once since cancelling all direct edits and opening up new account. I had £140 in my account so that went straight into my EF account :j
Relaxing rest of the weekend planned indoors so won’t be spending anything :beer:0 -
You have made a good start Frank but with such a healthy surplus I wonder if a DMP is right for you? I am betting that soa is aspirational rather than accurate.
You need something in the emergency fund section and entertainment is a little high although as you have a child I can understand that £30 a week does not sound much. I also don't think £40 on gifts for Christmas and Birthdays is completely unreasonable but bear in mind the bigger the surplus the more that stepchange are going to say you can afford to pay each month to your creditors. Obviously that means the debt is paid off sooner but money will still be tight unless you can stick to that soa.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hi enthusiasticsaver
Thanks for posting
Regarding the SOA, I just went through my last statement and I paid a total of £899 towards my debt. So I was getting deeper and deeper into my overdraft every month. Does that change your mind when it comes to the DMP? The entertainment is for what I spend on DD and also myself for the whole weekthe last couple of weeks though I have had money left over because I am using cash and being more mindful on what I spend my cash on.
