Leak in garage from neighbours

Hi
My mother has a garage in a block of garages which appears to have damp. On closer inspection it looks like the water is coming in through the wall as the neighbouring garage has a hole in the garage roof.
What are my mother's options please in having the neighbour repair and maintain their own garage?
Thanks

The first thing to do would be to alert the neighbour to the issue as they are probably unaware.0

It's unlikely that a bit of water ingress from a hole in a neighbouring garage is passing through an internal wall to hers.
What's the construction? Sectional concrete, or brick/block? Felt roof or wriggly asbestos-cement sheet?0 -
It's brick walls, with a felt roof. The neighbours garage is on the left, my mother's is on the right. The neighbours garage felt roof is obviously damaged. There is discolouration in the bricks in the wall beneath the roof as well. Thanks

Add a few spaces and remove the http and www bits. We'll figure them out.rudebadger wrote: »Sorry it appears I am not allowed to post image links0 -
Does your mother own her garage? Freehold? Leasehold? Does she rent it?
Does the neighbour own their garage? Freehold? Leasehold? Do they rent it?
This could determine responsibility for repairs. But yes, step one is to invite neighbour round for tea. Bake a cake (a nice one!) and discuss the roof.

Then you need to find out who the neighbour rents it from and get them round for the cake!rudebadger wrote: »ibb.co/y0FR8Qn
My mother owns her house/garage. The neighbour rents their house/garage.
