Selling personalized plate
So I bought a plate a few years ago I think it was £399, and it clearly spells out my wife's name..... Anyway we are getting divorced, selling the car and there are immediately two options:
1) leave it on the car for the new seller and be done with it
2) transfer it onto a certificate in which case it's £80 and the ex can keep it (don't want to use it now, maybe in the future) or we can try and sell it
I don't think there's a lot of demand for the plate as it's a foreign name and not even common there.... So I assume it's worthless, except to my wife?
It's in the format Y4 ABC

I'd show an amicable front and choose no 20

I'd leave it on the car if she's not bothered about keeping it.0

Once it's on retention, you can hand it back to DVLA and get the £80 back, if you want.

Or just leave it on the car.0 -
You could always list it on Gumtree and see if you get any takers before selling the car.0
