There are also early 1960s women's magazines with classic 60s clothes that aren't at all my style but look very chic. The ones I really like are from the 40s and 50s, especially Mum's collection of Needlewoman and needlecraft with vintage embroidery patterns (though sadly not many of the iron-on transfers, though these days we have photocopiers so there might be a way of copying designs).
If you want to donate them somewhere, the University of Sussex - I think - has a pattern archive of 20th Century knitting and sewing patterns. They'd be the first place I'd contact.
Thank you so much, I really didn't want them to go to waste but they aren't something I'd use. I'll look into it in case they can be used (though will have to wait till after lockdown as they are still at the other house). If they already have the magazines - which is possible - I'll advertise them locally as they weigh rather a lot.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

What gets me is the amount of time it would take to knit said dress - definitely not one for slow knitters, is it?
I love both the jumpers, Pipney and Laura, you are both very talented.
So far this year, I've not really knitted anything as I still can't get everything I've got now into the wardrobes and drawers. However, my father has managed to lose one of the beanie hats I made him after his cancer treatment, so I will have to make him a new one.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Hi all, lovely jumpers Laura and Pip. I am not sure my knitting skills are up to that standard but as I have said I have plans
. The hat is finished and fits. I did have to undo it when nearly finished as I had run out of wool but I reduced the amount of stitches and reduced the rib bit which was designed to turn back and I actually had a small amount of wool left. I loved working with the circulars although when I got down to 19 stitches it was too difficult and I had to switch to dpns and I am now looking for something else to make with them. I have looked at a pattern for a Fibonacci stripe scarf that I could make as a present for my SIL but the pattern uses merino wool that no longer appears to be available so I wanted to ask you yarn gurus if I am right in thinking this is a dk yarn. I have some left over white dk from the baby blanket so could use that with another colour which I will have to buy online from somewhere but it would be totally worth the purchase as it will help me get through the next couple of weeks now it's too dark to be in the garden until late. I am working from home again and it is proving to be more stressful than last time as I have taken on a new role so need something to help me relax in the evening. Take care everyone

What are the details of the yarn specified in the pattern? (Name, brand, etc.) Merino is a breed of sheep, not a particular characteristic of one specific yarn, so blindly assuming it was DK may leave you with a very narrow or very wide scarf. Also, have you had a look on Ravelry to see what other knitters used? (NB: There's 2 pages of Fibonacci scarf patterns listed in the link.)

Hi Pip,
It is actually the red and black scarf on ravelry I was looking at, the first picture. It uses patons classic merino, I did a Google and what I found seemed to point to it being dk but I wanted to check. I just want to make sure I get enough wool to make it. The white I have is comprised of several half or less balls as I always buy in batches when I make the baby blankets but it occurred to me the stripes would enable me to use some of it up as if there is as slight colour difference it would not be obvious as long as I don't mix it within a stripe.

Hi Pip, yes I saw the worsted bit and to be honest that is what confused me lol. I will go with the dk, use 4mm circulars and do exactly as you suggest and increase the number of stitches. Thank you so much7

Anybody want a pumpkin muffin (low carb, even!) that you have to lick off the cupcake liner?
Ohhh... Yummy! Please share the recipe.

I used Swerve instead of Sukrin. Her recipe here doesn't say that you need to use parchment paper, but it sure does in the cookbook!
I may just stick to doctoring a classic recipe, adding oats to increase the fibre content.
