I really like that suggestion Polly.  I might just keep it to Lisa's Emporium though.  I can add further things to the shop stock if I feel like it without worrying about sticking to the "sewing" bit.  I have already prepared some bolts of fabric from my scraps to stock the shop.  I'm not furnishing it to a particular period.  Its an old house that has been modernised by me to my requirements.  Its going to be furnished to my taste and my "dream home" requirements. 

Laura - I'm glad your OH is back home safe and well and that you are coping with the nursing.  Now you can both concentrate on recovery after the long wait for the operation.

I have another successful me made to report.  I had some fabric in my stash for years that I really wanted to make something with and finally decided on a dress.  I found some lining fabric and thread and all I needed to do was buy a zip.  I have nearly finished it, just some handsewing to do, and I love it.  I think it is my new favourite "me made". The bonus is it was all from my stash so no coupons.

I've hardly had time to think, and being in the office and arguing with allergies is NOT helping.  I came home yesterday and took a nap, which I very rarely do, and feel I might go to bed after dinner tonight.

So...no time for shopping.  Or knitting.

I have managed to read a bit more of Mapp & Lucia.  I'm assuming they are to be taken in the same vein as Mrs. Bucket (Boo-kaaaay) from Keeping Up Appearances?

Yes, although I think Mrs Bucket would have aspired to become part of Mapp's or Lucia's world.  It would have been her goal in life.

Do we have any gin stashed around the village hall?  (Sloe gin is fine.)  I need a stiff drink.  I had an interview this morning.  My first ever remote one - thank you MS Teams - and my first ever for a post in the Civil Service.  It wasn't a disaster but I have no feel for how it went.  They kept pushing on "decision making" and, quite frankly, that's not the type of role I have ever done.  I've been an influencer, not the decision maker.  My conclusion is that I won't get it.  However, I know I've done something right just to get to the interview stage, so can't be totally downhearted.  (Excluding this one, there is one vacancy in the entire southeast of England for the type of work I want to do.  It's 2 hours drive away, on the far side of London, so I won't be applying.)

I think there’s a bottle of gin hidden in the cupboard with the teacups, Pip. Just keep it to yourself!  Hope the interview went better than you think, fingers crossed for you.

Of course, when I said teacups you all immediately pictured these, didn’t you. Possibly in blue rather than green. These are still in use in a village hall somewhere, I am sure.

Those Green ones were definitely in use in my village hall up to a few years ago!

Pip, there is also a fruit cake in the WI cupboard in the hall, in a tin behind the raffle prizes, help yourself if you need that too!
