Thank you @savingholmes and @beanielou
We have a carvery near us, SH, and bf is desperate to pick up a TGTG from there. He'll probably do it without me, he's that keen. I told him about the app and he got me to download it on his phone right away.
It's coming along Beanie. Spent most of the morning packing, went to my folks' for lunch and stayed the afternoon and then for tea. They're really helping us out a lot, with moving and with meals. I did another couple of boxes when we got back. LMG is on an early tomorrow so she headed off to bed and I'm just waiting for her washing to finish.
Still got a bit to pack. I want to sort out the fridge and freezer tomorrow as we're leaving them and I want them to be spotless. I need to do a wash load, possibly two, so that there will only be a small amount to do when we get there.
Not sure if I mentioned this before or not but when I set up my council tax online account a few months back there was a property that I lived in, in 1999 on it. It had a balance of £30 owing to us. I decided just to contact them and ask for it back. They said yes but I shared the flat with a friend and they asked for her to confirm that all the money could come to me, unless I could prove I paid it all myself. I can barely remember 2019, never mind 1999 so I messaged my old friend and asked for her bank details so that they could send us half each. She has said that I can have it all and has emailed them to tell them that. How lovely. We lost touch over the years other than being friends on FB. She married into middle class and now has her own successful business. I stayed working class. We ended up socialising in different circles. I hate feeling like the poor relation but the MSE in me is delighted about getting the full £30. I've sent them my bank details so I reckon I'll get that in the next couple of weeks. They were quite quick with the refund of my current CT.
I'm waiting for a refund of about £75 from current home insurance.
I'm waiting for a refund of about £250 from power company. We are going to stick with the same company when we move but they close the account and refund, then open a new account once we're in.
My memory is so bad, did I mention that we think the HA are going to take the hit for the cost of repair to the broken window? Apparently someone complained about the bad neighbours always leaving it open so another neighbour thinks they will just cover the cost. It explains a lot as the bad neighbours downstairs started banging on the ceiling randomly for an extended length of time one day last week. We hadn't done anything to provoke them (we never do, they are just not right in the head, either of them). They must have been told about the complaint and assumed it was us.
I'm just waiting for a bill for the new door entry system (£150) and a bill for the stat notice we got a few weeks back ("about £40" apparently).
I need to hand in a set of keys to the solicitor tomorrow. I'm getting my hair done nearby in the afternoon so I'll do it on the way.

Thank you all!
EH - hehe it was a good bag. Bf got one a couple of days later and it wasn't as much.
Just hopping on quickly to say WE'VE MOVED 🎉🎉 Surrounded by thousands of boxes, no sofa and where did we put the cutlery?! How do people make it look so easy? I had to take a towel out of the washing basket as I've no idea which box they're in either. I labelled all the boxes and wrote the contents down. How is it such a mess? We are so happy though. We love it already. We don't even feel homesick. LMG says she doesn't feel like a home owner, she just feels like her digs have gone up by about £500 a month.
Still sorting out council tax, etc, and we have an appointment at the bank tomorrow to open a joint account as I think it will work best for organising our finances. I'll need to start thinking about new financial goals now.
I'll catch up with other diaries next week.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Thank you SH and Beanie. It's so peaceful here. It's so lovely having the garden. I keep sitting outside to eat. Bf cut the grass for us yesterday so it's an even better pleasure now.
I'm off this week to get more bits done. It's still chaotic but I found some clothes and towels so got washing done. Loving being able to peg out.
LMG and I opened a joint account at the weekend for bills. LMG has set up broadband for us and that will be installed on 2nd August. I'll need to keep my work stuff at my parents' until then. It gives me time to get a desk and chair too.
We still need to get a sofa, wardrobes in both bedrooms and a bed for me. We've been looking at sofas but they're all too big (we have a big dining table that I refuse to compromise on and the room is small) so we will need to figure out how to make something fit. I have caved and bought a rail to hang my clothes on temporarily. I am sleeping on LMG's old mattress on the floor (she has my old bed and I'm getting a new one) but it is so comfy that if it wasn't for needing under-bed storage I would consider just keeping it as it is.
I've ordered a recycling bin from the council as it is missing. We're still waiting to hear about council tax.
Today I need to call our mortgage provider to pay the £299 product fee (don't want to be paying interest on that for 25 years) and to change the dd account details to the joint account. I also need to call the current fuel provider to set up a temporary account until my provider takes over.
So much to think about.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

@girlatplay - glad you are in your new house and enjoying the garden.
With regard to the sofa - do you actually need it? Would your room suit separate chairs better? It's what DH and I did when we had a small living room and it certainly worked better than having a sofa and/or sofa and chairs.
Definitely the right thing to do with paying the product fee off immediately - it's something we always did when we remortgaged. Like you say don't want to paying interest on it for the length of the mortgage!
