Looks lik a toss up between the Xiaomi M8 and Moto G8 plus
Xiaomi looks like better faster phone with 6GB ram but Moto G8 plus is much better camera.
Any other cheaper 6GB phnes Ive had my HTC desire 10 pro for 2 years and it is already 4GB so dont want to stay the same?

You wont really need 6GB in a budget phone.0

Best bang-for-buck is the Xiaomi Pocofone F1 ... but it doesn't have NFC which was a deal-breaker for me.
I got a Moto G8 Plus for Christmas and it is very nice.

I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 pro bought as a stop gap when I dropped my previous phone in the sink

8 gig ram, 128 gig storage & cost me less than £300 from somewhere online, brand new & boxed.
It does have a few annoying features but the fact I still have it 9 months later is testament to how well it performs. Granted it's not a high end Samsung/Apple but then I didn't pay high end money!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
I have a Mi8 and cannot fault it. I 'd like wireless charging and some waterproofing but for less then £300 they're not deal breakers for me. . If you're really on a budget, check out Cubot X20 Pro (at appliances direct). My OH has the earlier model - Cubot X19 - it's not the slimmest, best looking phone ever but for £100 it performs really well0

I bought the Pocophone F1 recently. The CPU and RAM specs are great for the price. And there's a 3.5mm earphone socket.
No NFC, and no dust/water-resistance. And I had to uninstall some of the bloatware that comes pre-installed. But, I can live with that.
It was about £250 last time I looked.0 -
For budget you can get a Xiaomi Mi A2 6GB ram 128GB storage for £149.99.
Say Android 8.1 but will update itself to Android 9.
