    Something isn't right
A £700 Elec debt over 11 months is £63 a month, added to which is the value of D/Debit going out every month - HOW MUCH IS THIS?

Just on the debt - Assuming a tariff of a DSC of 22p and 15p per KWh with VAT, gives a consumption of 2663 Kwh over 11 months (2905 Kw a year), which is close to the 'Average' for a small family home.

The Elec smart meter would have been showing a 00000 reading when installed. what is it showing now ?

    ...

I suspect current DD for electricity is set at about £25.50 pm
(assuming there were no changes to this monthly payment since January, no additional top-up payments, no additional charges, etc)

i.e. significantly less than they have used, which on average is probably more like £84.75 p.m

£85 per month for electricity in a house that has both gas and electricity supply would be really very high though!
  • Hi everyone, thanks for all your messages. They all helped confirm that I wasn't loosing my mind in terms of the amount of money owed!

Update - after progressing the complaint they offered me £50 bill credit, but then I asked them (for the million time) to double check the meter readings as they seem so high, the manager then told me that 'oh something looks wrong, let me call you back in 3 hours'....

It turns out that the meter they installed at my house was a second hand meter and the reading did not start on 0. The new amount owed was £130 - £50 bill credit = £80.

I'm so glad I persisted and got to the bottom of it, but the amount of times they tried to put me on a payment plan to pay £700 was terrible.
