Glass Kettle

I bought a glass kettle at the beginning of August. For the last few days once it has started boiling it continues to boil for at least 25 seconds before clicking off. I am going to return it but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else.

  • I have one and nope. Think mine is a Russel Hobbs one.

Check that the lid is fully and properly closed.
  • It maybe needs a descale

Thanks for the replies. I will check the lid and also look to see if it needs a descale.

My glass Breville is exactly the same.

I guess this is because of luck of mesh filter at the top. As a result it's very easy for the steam to escape instead of going down through the metal pipe to trigger the switch at the bottom.

    It maybe needs a descale
I don't think this can be relevant.

    Which brand is it?

That's interesting grumbler because the mesh filter fell out a few days ago and my son forgot to tell me. I've just put it back in, it's very flimsy though and broken. The kettle kept on boiling and is now up to 30 seconds before clicking off after boiling.
Coffeehound. It's a Dunelm own brand and cost £32.99 so not particularly cheap.
