Grogged, you've just reminded me of the exchange between me and my Mum after a deer had run out in front of her car and dropped dead on impact:
Me: "I knew you were a Sex Pistols fan, but I didn't know you'd take it literally"
Mum: *looks puzzled*
Me: *in appropriate singing voice* "Who killed Bambi"
Mum: "Blub, blub, blub"
Me: "Too soon?"
Ha! I feel better about the "no mortgage, no car" comment now!

Best wishes SC in finding a new job. I know you won't think it now, but maybe something better will come along. You are in a great position to explore routes that you may never have taken and find them more fulfilling. You will have many transferable skills. Thanks MFD's ❤
So this weekend's small step forward has been to FINALLY get in touch with my car insurance and take off the commuting and business use and slash the mileage right down. £128.45 refund coming my way, which is mega. Trying not to think what it could have been if I'd done it straight away (I was only 8 days into the policy the last time I went to the office 😡), but that was pre-lockdown and I think I thought I'd only be away from the office for a couple of weeks. Turns out they have no admin fees and I can amend it myself any time I like with just a few clicks. Lesson learned, just get on with it!
I've also tried to change my water DD so it's 12-monthly instead of 10, but after trawling through many, many (many) different pages on their website it appears that's only an option if you have a meter (I can't have one fitted here), so looks like I'm stuck with that one. Never mind, at least I know now anywayMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Sending you positive vibes SC. You are allowed some 'hippo time' of wallowing and feeling cross. That's normal given the events. Like others said though, you have lots of positive skills/outlooks and will find a way through4

Ah SC I’m sorry about your news. I was made redundant from my last job and It sucked. But you have a whole pile of positives on your side from your MFW ways so I for one have no doubt you’ll come back bigger and better from this xMFW 2020 #139 £781/ £30005

Really sorry to hear about your news. I wish you all the best, and it sounds like while it really sucks right now (and generally leaving a job is something you want to have control over, rather than it happening like this, especially after such a long time!), you may well be able to find something better soon.5

Another small step achieved today: I have ordered a mobile phone - always been too MSE (tight) to pay for a personal phone before, but needs must
OMG, that's 2.5 hours of my life I'll never get back. How can it be so complicated??? It appears I am the only person in the UK who doesn't care about the minutiae of the actual handset (years of get-what-you're-given work phones will do that to you), but had to go through the rigmarole of choosing the phone then working out the cost each time. Why can't they just tell you the basic cost of the package you want, then give you a list of phones and how much they will cost on top??? It's just like choosing a car and you think "ooh, that's a good price" and get all caught up in dreams of a fancy model, then realise the prices are based on 5,000 miles a year 😠
Anyway, rant over, it arrives tomorrow
It's also 128gb, which I can't quite get my head round after 8gb on my current phone. No more constant deleting/downgrading apps! I will have more room for moneymaking apps! Any suggestions? I currently use Vypr, Shoppix, Receipt Hog and Huyu (hopefully all my points will transfer over 😮)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I should probably invest in a phone bigger than 8gb too, I feel your pain about the deleting/downgrading apps!Original settlement date: Dec-54 Projected: Jul-55 (due to 3 month mortgage holiday!)3
