It’s just turning windy and wet here - great timing as our lovely buyer is about to arrive and we’re going for a walk to get out of the house!

  • Hey @South_coast I have just read through all your diary since you popped by my new baby thread. What a journey you have had and amazing to see you managed to get through that redundancy AND get your mortgage paid off.  Very inspirational and well done.

I had such a nightmare transferring an S&S Isa from HL to Fid last year - they sold a fund on the transfer but then lost the money so it was never paid into my new ISA!!  Luckily I was tracking everything. In the end after many calls I got a £100 apology amount, which after it was then not paid a month later, became a £150 apology amount.

I really like how you track your monthly 'free money', I can see how motivating that must be.  I just used some nectar points for food and then just transferred that money out of my grocery acct into my main  bank account - which is how I track my grocery spending. However I like the idea of tracking such free money and indeed then moving it to my current house deposit savings acct straight away, so I will be copying that ;))
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I do love free money - not so keen on doing the work to chase it though 🤣!

Speaking of chasing it, I still haven't had the £15 for completing the deodorant product test - over a month ago now! I'm chasing, but the responses I'm getting are worse than useless 🙁🙁🙁 I'm also waiting on a One Poll payout which I requested on 2 August, so may or may not make it to me this month (why do they take so long???) Those two combined are half of my August target - don't they know I've got targets???

I'm also monitoring my grocery spend this month (just because I thought it would be interesting 🤣). My largest categories so far are £8.00 on frozen fruit and £4.10 on halloumi 🤣!

No watermelon for me please - the pips stress me out too much. I can't be doing with that aggro in my life 🤣!

Halloumi here too - we're having them as kebabs with peppers, onions, etc.
I'm told salad may also be involved... ☹️
If it's not adding up, compound it!
