Chiming in to agree. You have lovely ice cream and it is ruined by the cone you eat at the end. It reverses the ice cream effect and makes you thirsty and not refreshed.2025 decluttering: 4,022 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟

It seems I have hit on an ice cream goldmine with you lot 🤣!
Clearing out the loft went OK yesterday - ish. As well as stuff belonging to me (Uni stuff, all going in the recycling), my Mum and stepdad, there was stuff of my stepdad's Mum's, my Mum's Mum, my Mum's stepdad (died in 2006) and my Mum's stepdad's Mum (died some time in the late 80's 😱). All I could think of was all those articles on Becoming Minimalist etc saying "sort your possessions out now or your kids are going to have to do it when you die" and that I would probably end up having to deal with it at some time in the future! There are at least 3 sets of ashes in the house.... I don't want all these decisions to default to me 😮
Anyway, we managed to get all of the stuff relating to my Mum's stepdad and his mother downstairs so it can be passed on to his family to deal with, and I've promptly walked into it (twice!) during the night on the way back from the toilet. Not been brave enough to look at my leg yet, but it is very sore 🙄 Everything else is now zoned into "keep", "rubbish" (their tip isn't open yet apparently), "car boot" and "Christmas" piles. Personally, I would have put most of the keep and car boot piles as "rubbish", but perhaps I'll just end up doing that in 40 years' time instead 🤣! My Mum has also got lots of shoe boxes full of paperwork to go through during the week as well, although they are all helpfully labelled - wage slips from 15 years ago etc 🙄

Blackberrying off the agenda now as it's been pouring with rain. I don't mind getting scratched to bits, but I'm not getting wet as well!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

It reminds me of when my nan died. She lived in a 3-bed semi-detached house all alone and despite looking tidy, she had crammed stuff into every nook and cranny going. She kept everything - including 20 year old jam she had made (yuck). It took my parents ages to sort it out and as a result, they had a serious purge of all their own stuff as they said they didn't want me and my sister to have to deal with the same thing. My dad even got rid of his box of old cheque books (he kept every cheque book he ever had in his life!)2025 decluttering: 4,022 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟

That sounds like my BF, although I have now managed to stop him keeping junk mail 🙄 They're not that bad really, I've just gone too far the other way I think!
We managed the blackberry trip in the end - except we were about 3 weeks too late and most of them had withered away. We came away with a very sad amount!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Oh gosh SC, sounds like my parents house. They thankfully have begun to sort their own stuff out since my mum retired at Christmas but so far I think all she's done is go through my baby stuff and ignore her own massive pile of rubbish
Good luck with the job.
