Do I need a 56k modem?

This may be a daft question, but I'll ask anyway:o :-
I'm buying my mum and dad a computer for christmas and have plumped for a Dell. One of the options to add is a 56k modem, however, they have cable broadband from Virgin. I'm pretty certain this means they don't need the modem but just want to make sure.

Only thing I can think of is you want to set up Fax.

Also could be handy for backup if lose BB, I know I've kept mine installed.

NO.

If you have cable broadband it will be of no use.

It would serve a purpose as a backup dial up connection on a laptop.

That way you could use it where there was no BB link and still access the net.
