No longer receiving Amex cashback offers

Options
Typically I would have about a dozen offers available on my Amex card for some sort of cashback. I checked a few weeks ago and there were only two. Even Shop Small which should be available for everyone wasn't listed. Yet someone showed me their account and they had the usual dozen offers listed.

I contacted Amex who said there must be a technical issue for Shop Small, they added it manually but insist that everything is fine on my account, it's just that no offers are available right now and if I wait a while I will see offers again.

Two weeks later I check again and the two offers that were there previously have now expired and I just see a message telling me I have no offers available.

It's like my account has been banned from cashback offers. Amex say this isn't the case but I don't understand how I've gone from having a dozen offers to having nothing, even though other people still have plenty of offers.

Anyone else experienced this?

  • How often do you use the card?

I have the Platinum Cashback card and the Amex Gold card, I use the Plat. card more and have more offers on it (30 or so) than the Gold Card (10 or so).

It's my main card so probably most days I use it. It's the British Airways card.
  • Not all cards are eligible for all offers.

As per above, besides the number of available offers, I have offers on the Cashback card that are not on the Gold card and vice-versa.
  • My Costco Amex is the same, although it is being phased out in Feb 2020. I used to have dozens of offers, now only 2.

I've got the Platinum Cashback Everyday Amex with over 50 offers currently available.

I wonder if the BA card is being phased out too?

I doubt it, considering they’ve recently launched a new business BA card.

I didn't use one card for years and when I started again it had plenty of offers and some of them better than on other Amex I was using frequently. So usage may not matter.
