    Hi all,

i was subjected to a grievance by 1 employee earlier this year. On the grievance letter, only one incident was claimed.
during the grievance investigation, a few more incidents came up which had nothing to do with the initial grievance.
i later found out that my manager had contacted the person investigating and asked them to add the other alleged incidents which i was cleared of by the way.

    i just want to know:
is things like this allowed to happen?
    can i complain about this?
obviously my manager wanted me gone! :(

If you were cleared of the other incidents too then you have nothing to worry about, if they are still being investigated then that’s what investigations do, turn up relevant information.

It’s obviously happened, what rule or law do you think your employer has broken by investigating things?

You can complain to whomever you wish about it, you could raise a grievance, only you are in a position to know what consequences you face as a result.

Presumably you are still there? If your manager wants you gone what are you doing that makes you a target? What’s your strategy for ensuring that you are a worthwhile employee?

What’s your union say about this?

It could simply be that other issues were raised by staff members and the manager thought the easiest thing to do would be to get them all investigated at the same time. If that hadn't happened, the grievance process would have started all over again after the initial one was dismissed. Then you might have felt you were being victimised.
As everything has been dismissed I would advise moving forward.

I don't know what you mean, but I wouldn't want to be spoken to with a joke from my manager.

The look on their face, frown or smile, wouldn't bother me.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    a) Yes, things like this are allowed to happen. Yes, they are legal.

    b) Yes, you can complain. However, it is unlikely that a complaint will result in any positive outcome for you because of a).
