very true SH. I'm lucky in that I do get some expenses so travelling is cost neutral, just not time neutralI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Cost neutral is a great start. Hope that you manage to get some more time WFH - if that's what you want. The weather is bitter at the moment.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Ha I’ll def manage to stay warm with that lot and running the gas lol. Energy companies !!!!!! love me.
Great to here things going well for you. Realistically are you finding you are near to sticking to budget without checking? You should find that with the weight too - you should have a good idea how many cals you’re consuming and what x amount of cals roughly looks like. Brilliant news re weight - are you at the maintenance stage now?

yes when you're nearer 60 than 50 everything is in the (serious need of) Maintenance stage. but yes - I do notice (and I believe they say same for a lot of things) that whenever I am feeling most in need of MSE support I find reasons not to engage. So I do keep a track and try and post at least once a week. (whether I need to or not
)
Weight and money two sides of the same coin really - I find I can only really concentrate on 2 things at a time and everything else takes to the side line - this month its been work and helping my OH who has become a bit of a person everyone goes to in her charitable work and alongside a few wider family issues its been a touch difficult

Hi Mark
Glad you keep posting. I always worry about people when they stop. I also can't concentrate on too many focus areas at once so can relate to that. Hope family stuff sorts out soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I’ve had family issues too Mark,
You’re not alone. There are always better times ahead, which I’m sure you know that anyway. It’s quite a tough time of the year I think, not that I like extreme heat either. I’m now up to 76 days of 10,000 plus steps which is down to the inspiration I took from reading about your exercise and getting your weight under control.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 53 -

Ha you're not filling me with confidence about the future mate.
100% re engagement generally; it's self destructive behaviour basically 'choosing' not nurturing a good habit and letting something more self destructive get a look-in. I say 'choosing' as it often doesn't feel like a choice tbh. Something I have learned about addiction, which can bring about a sort of an extreme version of what you're talking about, is you have to be 100% ready for it trying to bargain with you the 'you've worked hard/ need a pick up/ etc., you deserve a [self destructive behaviour]'.

well said mate - spot on @alt80 - part addictive behaviour and part lack of stamina. its hard being strong and you have to do it all the time - but the alternative is far worse in the long runI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

so a busy weekend getting ready for XMAS which is going to be very grown up this year, in that it will be a logistical nightmare of trying to see all of our young adults whilst also caring for the older ones. I think we are there, but not ideal.
In MSE news, I moved my DS2 phone contract (was XMAS present from 2 years ago) onto SIM only with EEEEEEE so moved from £30ocm to £8pcm. With EEEEEEEE gifting we can use DS1's 200GB pack to top up all the plans. If OH hadn't had to replace her phone earlier this year after an accident all of them would be on sim only!!.. Plus I have plans for my Virgin ohone which is free until July then I will switch it overI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
