Ikea "Stuva" / loft bed minimum ceiling height question

Hi,
We've been looking at some IKEA "Stuva" loft beds for our child as they appear to be great value and pretty sturdy.
One thing that is of concern is that the product requires a min. ceiling height of 2.4m. At the store, they say that the average ceiling height in the UK is 2.2m plus I've found some info that states that only recent new builds will generally be 2.4m. I've measured ours (25 year old house) and it comes in at 2.35m.
Most of IKEA's loft beds have a requirement for 2.4m ceilings so I'm wondering how they sell many in the UK if the ceiling heights are (on average) insufficient?
Does anyone have one of these loft beds that can advise on their experiences with ceiling height, please?
Thanks in advance.

They probably sell lots. I doubt anybody takes much notice of the 'min. ceiling height' specified, and decides for themselves whether they think their child would have a problem with the lack of headroom.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

That's what I was thinking. Then again, people might not bother so much if it isn't they that is having the problem of insufficient headroom.
I'd still be interested in hearing about anyone's direct experiences with these loft beds.0 -
My seven year old has had one of these for the last few months. Our ceilings are 2.4m high (house is 40+ years old) and she has plenty of headroom. My teenage son, who is 5'11" tall has to 'fold up' slightly in his similar bed.
I like the unit, it's well made and sturdy. Better than the B&Q wardrobes we've just constructed.0 -

Thanks for the response. The bed is for a 7 yo who is below avg height for his age so I think it'll do him for a few good years.
Do you mind if I ask whether your ceilings are exactly 2.4m or slightly higher (as they're never exact).
Also, do you have any bother in summer with the heat with the loft bed? I ask because, if I have ever been painting rooms in summer and on a ladder, it is quite uncomfortable when you get close to the ceiling heat-wise - heat rising and all that.
Thanks in advance.0 -
We have 3 of these and they aren't a problem.
I don't know our exact ceiling height but it won't be 2.4 as it's a 30 year old house.
The previous version of this loft bed was even higher and we had that version before. With that one, I cut it down by 10 inches with a hacksaw and it was perfect. You couldn't tell it had been modified.0 -

I know that our ceilings are spot on 2.4m as we had to measure them before ordering the B&Q wardrobes.
I don't think that summer heat has been much more of a problem for those high up in bed compared to others but we usually have the windows open anyway. My children haven't complained about it yet. Maybe you were uncomfortable whilst painting as you were physically active at the time?0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I should have elaborated that I was cutting in while painting which isn't very energetic although the rooms do face SSW which means they get the afternoon/evening sun and this maybe is the problem.0
