What to think...

Got a call from a dealer over a week ago regarding a car I had expressed an interest in a while ago, couldn't get a good deal back then and never thought any more of it, until this call recently.

After a couple of days back and forward with the dealer negotiating part exchange etc, we agreed on deal for new car, and for trade in of current car, put down a holding deposit just before Xmas.

Expected a call on Friday with registration and full details to arrange insurance, but it never came, called the dealer only to be told sales person is off but would be back on the Saturday, so I sent an email to him and the finance guy who had also taken all my details for running the credit check etc prior to signing documents.

Saturday came with no call or reply to two emails, called the dealer middle of afternoon, sales person was on a call, person took my number etc and I advised why I was calling, she said she would get him to call me back...no call Saturday, nothing today either.
Deal was supposed to be getting finalised on Monday, but not sure if it is even going through, can't arrange my insurance as I won't have time at work tomorrow, therefore thinking I shouldn't even bother trying to get in touch with them and leave it up to them..allegedly the deal had to be done before Tuesday for end of year etc.

Any advice, or am I being ghosted for a reason?

If they are not bothered about making a sale, what will the after sales service be like?

Sounds like they've sold it to someone else.

Thats my fear, but considering I put a holding deposit on the car, surely it should be reversed?

Another worry, I did read some stories about the manufacturers after sales, but the dealership, although not this specific one, I've had good dealings with.

If the sales person can make more commission from someone else then I doubt they'll be bothered if they have to refund your deposit.

Very true, not happy about it, but suppose thats the way of the world.

Or, more likely... It's the weekend between Xmas and NY. Somebody's not at work, and the registration/PDI/paperwork simply hasn't been done yet.

Thanks all, paperwork wasn't done when it was supposed to have been done, but instead of telling me that and assuring it would be done this morning, they opted to allow me to go around the bend lol.

There was always the option to go see em. That usually wakes people up when you are standing next to them, harder to ignore than a phone call or email.

Yeah it was more than 50 miles to go and see them, but all sorted yesterday, when I was there picking up the vehicle and sorting out the finance paperwork etc, turns out the finance guy had been off for the five days also.
Never mind all sorted and wife overjoyed with her new car.
