Covering Autentico Venice Lime Paint

Hi Guys
Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas!
We've just decorated our powder room using Autentico Venice Lime paint (from watching videos on Youtube it's roughly 95% lime content) well I'm not going to lie it looks hideous
you can see every brush stroke and in some places it's slightly shiny and in other places it's matte. So we need to do over and I'm thinking of getting something we can trowel on, but now i'm not sure whether we can put just anything on top of the Lime Paint or if we now need to use another Lime based product, can anyone advise? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Nikkei

From looking at the datasheet, Autentico Venice Lime paint appears to be a lime wash. It should be watered down a little and applied in very thin coats. Any shiny spots would suggest that you buffed it (with the brush) as it dried.
I would be tempted to give it a mist coat of an acrylic primer after giving it a quick sanding. Then trowel on a Venetian Plaster, polished and waxed - But then I like a polished surface. Not to everyone's taste, and polished plaster is not the easiest of things to do.
What were you painting over (i.e. already painted gypsum plaster) and had you used a primer first ?
Something you could try - Spray the walls with a bit of water, just enough to make the surface damp. Then apply a very thin coat of your lime paint, and before it dries, polish it with the edge of a small plastering/polishing trowel (a 200mm Pavan 825/I would be ideal). This would give you a shiny finish which could then be waxed and buffed.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thanks Freebear
We primed it with the Autentico primer as per the data sheet and it was onto a previously painted wall. We'd watched youtube videos on using it before painting the walls and there was no mention of watering it down!
If we mist coat it with an acrylic primer will that act as a barrier to whatever we put on top? I love the look of Venetian plaster and of micro cement but not sure we'd be able to make it look as beautiful as it should!0 -

An acrylic primer aids bonding to the base material - Your Autentico paint may be a little powdery until it has had time to fully harden. A primer will help to stabilise it. If you do go for a polished plaster, use the recommended primer rather than some random tin from B&Q.
I did look at micro-cement a while back. Decided that the added aggravation of applying a coat of resin on top wasn't worth it. The carbon footprint is also quite high. With Venetian plaster, it absorbs much of the CO2 released during manufacture, and also allows walls to "breath".Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
