Hi Folks
My tenancy is ending at the end of this month, im in Cheshire. There is damage to the double glazed front door. It was not me but i think it was the police when they were a bit heavy handed, they have denied doing the damage. So how would an adjudicator see this damage, would they get the door replaced out of my deposit?
My insurance wont cover it as its not contents, the letting agent said the landlord wont do it through his insurance, i offered to pay the excess. Its a very old cheap as chips basic front door. But im concerned that im going to lose a huge chuck of my deposit. Cheers guys.

The panel can be replaced, find a local widow/door company.
. . . or stick the house number over the damage0 -
How much is it going to cost to fix? Wouldn't have thought it likely to be much more than the excess, if at all.mystic_bertie wrote: »the letting agent said the landlord wont do it through his insurance, i offered to pay the excess0 -

It does not look like a panel? Door opened by big red key?

Thats not a panel that can be replaced.. Your best bet is trying to go to a UPVC window/door installer and see if they have any door that they are taking out that is the same or better than that door.. Or you could try ebay.. But you might be out of luck.. Thats going to be probably £600 at least.0

So it Ok for the landlord to claim and watch the insurance go up on renewal?:(The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -

The landlord is aware of the damage. It might get a quote from a local glazing company. Whatever do its not going to be cheap. How much is it going to cost to fix? Wouldn't have thought it likely to be much more than the excess, if at all.
It looks like the inner panel would need replaced and that will cost hundreds of pounds. The lanlrd has said he wont claim through his buildings insurance. It does not look like a panel? Door opened by big red key?

I already got a quote from a similar company and they priced it at £360 and it unlikely to be a perfect match.Thats not a panel that can be replaced.. There is a beading round the panel so perhaps it can be replaced, it does not matter what route i go its going to cost hundreds sof pounds for something i did not do.0 -
Do the right thing and get it repaired yourself, yes you didn't do it but your landlord didn't do it either. Do let your landlord know as they need to be satisfied with the repairs.
I can see the point about not wanting to use insurance, the premium will go up and stay up for number of years.Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0 -
