I wish to upgrade from W7 to W10. I have Kerpersky internet security bought online for two years. When I upgrade my OS, will the antivirus program be automatically transfer to W10 or do I have to ring Kerpersky first? I don't think I have the key.
Thanks

I think kaspersky has the ability to show you your key(long time since I had it), but you shouldn't need an external a/v the built in W10 a/v is fine.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Is this separate from MS Security Essentials?debitcardmayhem wrote: »the built in W10 a/v is fine.
Either way, do you have to manually run it to scan or does it scan on the go (or whatever the correct phrase would be)?0

You don't want to go in that pub, it's great, but it's on the corner of Google street and DuckDuckGo road... since you tend to reply with analogiesJustAnotherSaver wrote: »Is this separate from MS Security Essentials?

Make sure you cancel the Kaspersky if it automatically renews and then upgrade to Win10, the built in firewall and Defender are absolutely fine.0

            Kerpersky internet security
KIS shows the licence key .
 Save it .
Remove KIS if you are not doing a clean Win 10 install .
Download latest KIS and install using saved key .0

Totally uncalled for in response to a genuine question. I put absolutely no attitude your way at all.
Considering i'll be looking at moving to Windows 10 in the new year the question is valid so is anyone else willing to have a go at answering my question (in English) please?0

I switched to 10 from 7 on the 17th of this month. I had Kaspersky Total Security but removed it a few weeks before switching, as I also had Malwarebytes Premium and Kaspersky told me that MWB was causing conflicts. I removed Kaspersky and found that MWB gave me all I needed from an AV, and was not the resource hog that Kaspersky had become.
If you have Windows 10, you have the 10 version of Windows Defender and that is a huge improvement on the previous Defender. It also works in the background and so does MWB Premium, which I have kept since switching to 10. Fact is, you don't need an AV if you have 10, Defender is enough. But I am "belt and braces" so I also have MWB, which I recommend. It works in a different way to other AV's and it checks in the background, then pops up to tell you the results.
EDIT: quick tip: you may be asked for your Windows 7 Product Key before switching to 10. If you cannot find it, download Speccy:
 https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download
Take the Free version, install and run it on your 7 system and look under "Operating System". Your code is there. Write it down and use it if called for.I think this job really needs
 a much bigger hammer.

So if something gets in to your PC then in Windows 10 it's detected on the go (switch out for correct phrase as i'm sure that wont be it) and dealt with then?If you have Windows 10, you have the 10 version of Windows Defender and that is a huge improvement on the previous Defender. It also works in the background0

Nothing will "get in" - it would first be detected by the (improved) Windows 10 firewall, then killed by Defender. Any other malware which I very much doubt would survive, will be hoovered up by MWB.
This will tell you better than I can:
