Car Insurance Address Change

Hi all. Hope you've all had a good Christmas!
I'm looking for advice on the car insurance front.
My car insurance needs renewing on the 1st of January. I am due to change my address on the 3rd of January. I am unsure weather i should just order a new policy with my new address, as they may argue i am not insured if i have an accident before I move (only two days i know but things have a way of going wrong when you'd least like them to).
However if I insure myself to my current address then i will have to update this (i could do this for free under the usual "14 day cooling off period" but it may send my premium up.
A third option is i could just take out policy for the two days and cancel for free (again with the 14 day cooling) and just take out a new policy at my new address.
I am unsure with how to process with the options above or maybe someone has another suggestion. I don't want to be in a position where am uninsured or fraudulently abusing the car insurance companies.
Any advice is much welcome, thanks for any help!

You don't usually get free cancellation or free changes in cooling off periods.
Check the cancellation or MTA clauses on any policy you're due to take out.0 -
Bare in mind change of adress may increase your premiums which ever insurer you go with.
Check the T+Cs on admin charges on changing the address"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

There is no 14 day cooling off period with insurance. You get a 14 day cancellation rights period but its not free. They charge for the number of days on cover and usually comes with a cancellation charge.0 -
Are you interested in staying with your current insurer? I’d phone them and see what they suggested/offered. This is another one of those queries where it is very difficult to get your point across on a comparison website.0

Is the new address close enough to the old address that you could park there between the 1st and the 3rd?0

If you are contemplating about car insurance for your second and third car, then you must have heard of the convenience of having multi-car insurance. This is the type of policy that is perfectly tailored for people especially car drivers with more than one vehicle registered to the same person or address, and also to people with multiple cars at different locations.0

Hi all,
Just in case anyone comes back to this thread with the same question. I rang the insurance company and told them the situation. They were happy to insure me at my new address and put a note to see I would be at my old address for only 3 days.
Thanks all!0
