Travel insurance WHV NZ recommendations

I need travel insurance for a Working Holiday Visa in NZ. It must cover work and I've already left the UK (but not arrived in NZ). I'm aware of World Nomads, and have seen a couple of insurers in New Zealand that had so many exclusions they didn't seem to be worth anything. Are there any other options around?

What are you wanting the insurance for? do you already have insurance? If you do can you give them a call to get it extended?

Getting insurance after you have already started your trip is hard and expensive! World nomads is properly your best bet TBH, its very expensive though. I currently have Alpha longterm insurance as I'm in Canada but I brought this before I left for this ATW trip and made sure I stayed in the UK longer than 6 months between trips to be a UK "resident" for insurance purposes. Maybe get a couple of quotes and then give the insurances a call to see if the underwriters will cover you after you have already left.

I wouldn't normally advise not having travel insurance however if you are just looking mainly for the medical side NZ (and Aus) have reciprocal health with the UK meaning you can access the same as an NZ citizen (but you can't register with a clinic, which makes the appointments cheaper) and you can access emergency no charge, they also have something called ACC which covers everyone for accidents weather your fault or someone elses, it covers all medical, rehab and any lost wages (up to 80%).

This doesn't cover repatriation or any of the other things travel insurance covers but its better than nothing.
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada
