DVLA motoring assessments

Has anybody in here had to undergo a motoring assessment to get their licence renewed after a health declaration?

Does this resemble a full driving test? Any feedback would be helpful. How long does it take before you're notified of the result and is there a national list of locations where these are held? Are they held in usual driving test centres or regional locations ?

Regional locations. Used these people at their Southampton premises as they were most local to me at the time. I was diagnosed with MS and was losing use of my legs.

From memory........ approx 45 mins medical assessment then 30 mins driving one of their adapted cars (hand controls) on their private land. when they could see that this was suitable it was suggested that I take a couple of lessons with an instructor with a car that was fitted with hand controls just to get the hang of it. They sent me a full written assessment which I copied to DVLA and in my case Motability. DVLA renewed my licence with added restriction codes. Motability refunded costs for assessment and driving instruction. All very straightforward.
