Hi folks
I have a dashcam, due to an incident, I need to download the footage, however, there doesn't appear to be any footage on the SD card.
In files, last video recording was 2017 :eek::(:(
Am I doing something wrong, or is the dashcam not recording?
I'm using an Advent SD card reader

I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

If you can see the files, that's probably all there is.
One possible explanation is that the SD ran out of space and the dashcam was not set to overwrite the oldest recording.
Check if the cam has any (even limited) internal storage, although it's unlikely.0 -

Ah, that probably explains it, although I was under the interpretation the SD card just over rights itself, maybe that’s why it only has files for 2017!!
It's been switched on since 2017 and appeared to be recording, I'm annoyed with myself, it hasn't recorded footage since 2017

Check the free space, if it is zero, then that's the explanation.
It is not something that the SD card knows about, that's just a storage medium, it's the device using it that sends the erase and write commands.0 -

Leaving the dashcam aside, because I wouldn't know how to guide you, if you put the card into a laptop or a memory card reader, you can go to Windows File Explorer. The memory card will have its own letter (for example, E: ). Right click on it - Properties and it tells you how much space is in use and how much is left.Just_Passing_Bi wrote: »How do I do that? It's too late for you this time but I usually check what's on the SD card every couple of months as people on here keep saying they don't work forever.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I've reinserted the SD card into the dashcam, message pop up "Memory error"
I'm guessing this is due to the SD card being full, (I haven't replaced it since 2017):o:o
Any suggestions for a replacement SD card?I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0 -
Well, not necessarily. Memory error could mean that it cannot write to the memory because it's not working as it should.Just_Passing_Bi wrote: »I've reinserted the SD card into the dashcam, message pop up "Memory error"

You could format the memory within the dashcam and try again. However, given how much a memory card costs, I would just replace it with a newer and bigger one.0 -
Did you actually try viewing any of the video files? My dashcam has a silly little battery, and this has caused it to forget the date several times. SO, those files you think are from 2017, could be just from last week, if the date on your dashcam is wrong...0
