Passport Query

My 18 year old son is due to fly Manchester to Belfast in February as part of his college course. I think they are flying with Ryanair.

His passport expires in August and is a few days shy of the the 6 month which is usually needed for travelling. I know Belfast is UK but with Brexit and the usual Ryanair shenanigans, can anybody see any issues with him flying?

I would hate for him to be refused boarding but if I apply now he will lose 8 months on his passport and money is tight at present.

There is NO need for anything more than a valid passport for ID.

from the Ryanair website, id for domestic flights
"Any photo ID which matches the passenger name in the booking."

For a flight within the UK the passport or other photo ID is only to confirm identify, it's remaining period of validity has no relevance.
