Might be a good idea to consider a variable tariff, or at least to avoid fixed tariffs with exit fees?

That doesn't mean the ever increasing standing charge will do so.Supplers will argue that gas is bought in advance as they always do and profits are minimal and any savings are never passed on.

Yep and then the wholesale price will creep up above today's level in 6 months time and the price will rise immediately. We all know how it works!

Curious that the regulator doesn't seem to know.

Big brown envelope somewhere...or an MP involved, that would do it.

Seems to be happening ! I was with Yorkshire Energy, paying £926.00 but I signed up to Gulf at £807.70 and thought I'd done quite well.

But today during the 14-day cooling off period they've launched a new tariff at £765.15 so it's a no brainer, 17.4% less than I was paying.

Same for me, they've lowered prices mid-switch! Sadly they're not answering the phone today (staff training) :-(.
