EGG Loans

A few months ago, before the deadline, I decided to check if any thing would happen and applied through companies, Canada Square Operations and Consumer Refund Service. After 2 or 3 returns each asking for a questionnaire to be filled in, for my wife and myself, neither of us could help much with info requested.
A few days before Xmas, I received a letter from Canada Square (whose small print at the bottom shows they are a successor to EGG Bank) indicating an amount to be paid back in full, and there is no indication whatsoever, any comment regarding commission (is this because of the connection with EGG?).
Then on Xmas Eve, I received a letter from Consumer Refund Service, with details of exactly the same amount, plus an invoice for related commission.
Obviously I cant claim both, as that would be fraud, but can I reject the CRS letter and their invoice?

The same seems to be happening in my wife's name

Thx

Understand that you have employed a claim company to complain on your behalf. There are not two amounts to be claimed, the Claim Company is simply confirming the ONE refund you will receive (from the Bank) while including the bill you will now have to pay them for the "work" they have done.

This is simply an invoice of commission which they charge, it's not "related commission" you will be refunded!

You can't "reject" your legally-binding contract and will have to pay the fee/commission unless you want to end up in court...

That would be logical if she too used a Claim Management Company..

Am I reading that right - you complained direct to egg and then employed a claims management company to do the same?
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

    Sounds like the OP did exactly that, unfortunately;

For some unknown reason, the OP thinks Canada Square Operations are another Claim Company..

If the OP had simply complained only to Canada Square (EGG) he would now have all his refund to himself, of course.

Instead, the Claims company have now sent their invoice along with a copy of the complaint result.

So the OP is now confused, thinking he has two complaint results when in fact he always had only one.

I decided to check if any thing would happen and applied through companies, Canada Square Operations and Consumer Refund Service.

That was very counterproductive and costly.

Claims companies use the same free-of-charge complaints process you would use. They send it to the same address and the same people at Canada Square Operations (handling Egg complaints) would look at. They would just put the two complaints together and handle them under one case reference.

    CRS is a claims company
Canada Life Operations are the financial company that deal with legacy Egg complaints.

You employed CRS to send a complaint to Canada Life Op. That is why you are getting an invoice. Claims companies are well known for pursuing people through the courts if they refuse to pay.
  • I didn't know at the time that Canada Square, were now the successor to Egg Bank, and to be honest, if I remember at the time, advisors were advising(of course they were) people/potential clients to pursue through more than one channel.
Obviously, I dont intend cashing any cheque from Consumer Refund Service

What’s the point of not encashing the cheque? You owe CRS their fee.

Advisers didnt really get involved with PPI complaints and I do not recall seeing anything from advisers recommending such a course of action.

Please read carefully the responses you have received so far as you still appear to be totally unaware of what you have done.

YOU CANNOT RECEIVE TWO REFUND CHEQUES, nor can you choose any one over the other.

You will receive just one refund (from Canada Square/Egg) and Consumer Refund Service will require you to PAY THEM around 20% plus VAT of the single refund amount. This is the "commission" you referenced; it's a fee not a refund.

You will never receive any monies from Consumer Refund Service, they charge you-not pay you.

    You cannot "reject" their bill.

Failure to pay them will result in you being taken to court.

Who were these so-called "advisers" who told you to complain via multiple channels?

You were just fortunate that you didn't end up employing two Claim Firms, otherwise you would have had two bills!

I'm guessing the "advisors" were different Claim Company representatives attempting to drum up extra business.....
