Starling Bank feedback

That's my point. You brought up the problem of only being able to withdraw £300 (it's in your post that I quoted).
You haven't made any point - the two being interchangeable.
If you had a 'Bricks and Mortar' bank you'd had the option of getting branch cash, bank draft in addition to the Post Office counter / LINK ATM / Mastercard or Visa ATM.
With Starling, you have £300 via Mastercard ATM or Post Office counter only. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can anyone confirm if the option to "request money" is available within a joint account under payments.
It's only showing in my sole account, not joint but starling are telling me the option should be there.0 -

Nope, you're digging yourself in now.
You were the one that claimed it's a disadvantage and how you would not rather not rely on the FSCS if there was a problem and your £300 ATM limit was exhausted.
The point is you were talking nonsense in that comment because you either forgot or didn't know that full banking services was available at the Post Office.I'd rather not rely on the FSCS as my next move should an app fall over and my £300 ATM limit is exhausted.====0 -

I use Starling solely for overseas transactions and can’t fault them for that. On a recent trip with a friend I used the account for all of our expenses. I was able to withdraw as much money from ATMs as I needed without any fees and never had any problems with any retailer transactions. I also had immediate push notifications to my phone whenever I was debited.
I logged onto my account daily and put notes against all transactions so that when I got back home I was able to quickly list everything that my friend owed me so that he could settle up.
A work colleague uses Starling as his main account and speaks highly of them. I still consider First Direct as my main bank but in reality the vast majority of my transactions are through credit cards so my day to day current account transactions are minimal.0 -

I've not seen anything that disputes anything I've said but you seem to have issue with anyone disagreeing with you.
IMO a 'full banking service' isn't provided by the PO counter. I've used the Post Office with various banks (including Starling) and it's comparable to an ATM service (sharing the ATM withdrawal limit) rather than a full service branch that has access to both the full available balance, various payment options and the bank's systems.
The FSCS is a last ditch, non immediate option. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
As "app fall over" could happen with *any* bank, alongside the failure of their online banking and their Branch network (as proven by Natwest/RBS/Ulster and by TSB), why do you dwell on it for Starling? More importantly, what is your proposed remedy to mitigate against such possible melt-downs?
I don't dwell on Starling rather it's a wider app bank issue. I've had Monzo and still have Starling & Revolut but wouldn't use any as my primary account.
My personal mitigation strategy is use multiple unconnected providers and use a 'Brick and Click' provider for salary payments.
Other's risk appetite will be different obviously. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
