Man Cave TV - Help!

Hi All

I promise I'm not as stupid as I'm about to sound!

We have recently converted our garage into a room which will be used as a 'man cave' for me to watch sport in. I'm looking to buy a TV for the room, but aware that there is no aerial connection. We have Sky Q in the livingroom, but i'm reluctant to pay the subscription for multi-room. I can use the Chromecast to watch BT sport and other apps and I can link the laptop to the TV for Sky Go.

So, my question is, do I have to consider anything when buying a TV that will only be used for streaming and the like? I'll be looking at something between 43 and 50 inch.

I have a relatively low budget, ideally under £300.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ali

TBH, any TV with an HDMI port and a USB port should be sufficient. You'd likely get more benefit from a Fire TV Stick than a Chromecast (if Sky Go app can be installed on it ... which I'd imagine it can since the Google Play Store can be installed). USB port can be used to power the TV stick if there's no power socket free nearby.

Get a 4K TV stick if you're getting a 4K screen TV. Go into Richer Sounds or the like to view various models and see which floats your boat.

You don't really need Smart functionality built in to the TV if you do the above, albeit most TVs come with some Smart capability as standard.

That's really useful, thank you. I'm not really aware of what a firestick can do, perhaps I need to do more research!
  • What is the wireless coverage like in the garage or is there ethernet in there?

I was streaming BT sport last week onto a little old TV I have an it ran relatively smoothly (went a little grainy sometimes). Wireless only, no ethernet.
