Car insurer paying for hire car - who would pay damage excess?

I unfortunately got my car nicely wedged in the frame of my garage door the other day, and am making a claim on my insurance, who are dealing with the repair themselves. The insurance comes with courtesy car cover, but as they didn't have any cars available, they are paying Enterprise for a hire for the duration of the repair (according to the friendly people at Enterprise this happens quite a lot).
Enterprise kept bringing up the fact that their damage excess would be over £300 per item of damage (they asked for my car insurance excess and then matched it). They offered me excess waiver cover for £80, which I declined.
What I'm unsure of is, if there was some damage caused, whether my car insurance company should be the ones paying this excess as they're paying for the hire, or it would be me. I'll almost certainly call my insurance company to check, but was wondering if others have been in this situation. If I'm responsible for the damage excess (which doesn't sound right to me, as surely that wouldn't be the case for a courtesy car) then I'll probably be taking out damage excess insurance..
Cheers

Excess is down to you.
IME it mirrors your insurance excess.0 -
Fair enough, thanks. Wish I thought about it or was told beforehand as of course I can't buy insurance now as the rental has already started... guess I'll be being very careful.0
