Choosing a console when clueless

Thanks Dan..
we are enjoying the wii but find we have a 10-20 minute limit 2-3 times a week max as a result of health restrictions.
we looked at a switch but they are really pricey (or perhaps that is normal) and even used games were quite a lot.. but they look really good.
I think we will stick with the wii... and rethink if/when it gives up the ghost..perhaps by then there will be more used switchs.
however Nintendo style games are definitly more to my liking as seem far more cartoony, gentle and daft. although i still havent sussed how to use the remote for some games.
thank you0 -
If it is not a "motion" type game, you can plug a "gamecube" style controller (there is a little flap to open on the top of the Wii to plug it into) and that would give you more control than the wii remotes.
Grab one on ebay or a 3rd party copy on Amazon etc.
You can also get a little gamepad that will plug into the wii remote itself.0 -
Thanks Pikachu..
i need a wireless one as the console is in a cupboard and i am tucked up in bed.. wires too dangerous fro tripping, tangling in duvet and pulling things off shelf..... but i'll have a look... didnt know that was possible .. thank you0 -
There is a huge difference in Wii game prices, depending on source (as much as £38 in one case), but CEX have a wide range from just 75p. However there prices given are from in store and postage is £1.50 per item. Music magpie also have a large range of games but have 'free' postage.
Once you find a title you think you'd like, you are almost certain to see a demo or even full walkthrough on YouTube, which helped me make many decisions for Wii and Wii U games.
A Wii U is very similar to a Switch, but much cheaper and will work with the original Wii games, too. I bought a Wii U in case my Wii gives up, as I have so many games.1 -
Thanks
I tend to buy from amazon.. we have two computer game shops in town but they are a bit intimidating with high stacked shelves just asking for 'dominoes' from a wheelchair user. ;-)
We are both really happy with mario carts... and i have a night at the muesum disc i've started and quite liked and a lego one to try later. i dont think i need many games0 -
CEX and Music Magpie tend to be cheaper and have more choice than Amazon. Game used to be reasonable but is now quite expensive.1

The Super Mario Galaxy pair are fun for the Wii if you can grab a copy. (Platformer). And the Lego games can be amusing. But other than some of the cool RPG titles the console had, Wii Sports/Resort and Mario Kart (which you have) I can't think of anything else worth bothering with0

I would always go with what the majority of your gaming friends have... more online fun for you all!0

I will be biased but think about desktop first. Multi-purpose.0
