Not on console. You play a game with online play and get teamed up.
As you play you will meet people/play with people you get on with and become 'friends'.
Im not a big organised game type and generally just jump on a game and play with randoms mainly but will play with friends if they are onlnie when I am.
However online play on consoles costs money,so keep in mind if costs are an issue.
Something like the wii is relatively cheap to buy and get games for.
The Xbox/PS4 by comparison is expensive with higher game costs and online gaming memebership costs.
We have the Switch,PS4 and Xbox here. SWitch is a great little machine but costly to buy and games arent cheap0 -

Its as Custardy says.
To gon online you select what game you want to play online, go to the relevant part of the game eg multiplayer and you can eother just choose a random game to join or a particular game as you have set the search terms to find a certain 1.
As I say some of the Lego series of games could be ideal, why not watch some youtube videos for any games your interested in.0 -
Thanks.
Think I will avoid online options as finances very limited and also would need to be able to log off if poorly and go at own pace.
Hadn't thought of you tube for research would be better than reading pages of text.
Thanks all0 -

Yes thats a good option, no need to commit yourself now, can always do it at a later date.
Just a point to note, some co op games may split the tv into half so your viewing portion of the screen is reduced, I hope your tv is big enough.
I dont play co op as in a person sat beside me type games so I cant confirm it.0 -
We have a Wii.
Well I closed my eyes and jumped... there was a Wii with 2 controllers, wheels, guns, and joystick thing on a string, board and 31 games along with some little plastic monsters and a small stage thingy (research needed). Looking at completed listings on ebay it was a good buy so we bought it.
We then sorted through the games and used 'we buy books' to sell on the ones that are too realistic, scary or involved singing... so that got us almost £10 back.
We have no idea what we are doing and what the buttons do but have a number of games to try and if we decide it's not for us we can sell it on again although my Dad seems interested so if not for us it will be his Birthday Present in Spring. (2nd hand gifts always allowed in my family)
Thank you everyone... we might still work through the other makes.. i liked the look of the x box and the controller looks easier to hold....
But for now I have a new project and something new to do and learn which will help pass the time and hopefully be fun for us both
Thank you everyone.
P.S we tried mario carts and yes our telly screen could do with being a bit bigger however we both prefer a smaller telly as it's easier to watch with our various conditions... mind you it would help if i had realised I was the bottom screen as i couldnt work out why my car was going places i wasnt directing ;-)0 -

Is one of the games one of the Skylander series ? These games come with a 'portal' (small stage thingy) that you stand the (little plastic monster) figures on and they then appear as characters in the game.
There's also a Nintendo brand called 'amiibos' where you buy the collectable figures (some are VERY collectble and VERY expensive), that then produce add on features to various games, but I think they only started to appear after the Wii.i liked the look of the x box and the controller looks easier to hold.... .
If you find the 'Wii-mote' a bit of a struggle I think you can get a holder to put it in that makes it more like a standard controller. And at least some Wii games will also support use of the old Gamecube style controllers.0 -
Thank you... There are two skylander games... I hadn't realised they were part of the monsters.... As I said I need to do some research as way out depth.
Just trying Mario carts and carnival so far... Enjoying it and but muddled about the buttons and actions.... I'll get there.
Thanks all0 -
If you look at https://www.myplaycity.com you'll find 100s of free games to play online or download to play offline ,on a pc. There are hidden object, driving, puzzle and time management games, some of which still sell for around £5.
The site is legal as it's supported by game manufacturers and other businesses which advertise and doesn't spy as earlier versions are reported to have done.
Regarding the Wii, I have accumulated over 150 games for my Wii and Wii U consoles. Wii games play on Wii U machines but not vice versa and the 'tamer' games are very similar to or are actually available on Xbox and PlayStation.
It may be me but I have the impression that the Wii has more cartoony games than the other brand consoles which seem to concentrate on shooting or fast racing.0 -
I'd definitely recommend a Switch, if it is in the budget. I'm not sure on your disability, but the switch can be played on the TV and as a handheld so this may come in useful. Main problem with the Switch is that games can be pretty expensive (but I am a PC gamer that is used to getting cheap games)0
