I filled in inheritance tax form wrong!!

Hi
I sent an online IHT205 off, after sending I realised I’d entered two figures wrong. We were under tax threshold any way and still will be. I now need to do probate form should I put the incorrect figures down for probate as there is no tax to pay or am I able to edit/resubmit tax form. I’ve rang inland revenue twice and been given different and inaccurate answers both times. Thanks.

It's seems there is a process if changes tip you into IHT but not just for a mistake on the form.
What you could do is submit the probate form and a revised IHT205 by post and on the part of the probate form which asks if you submitted a IHT205 online fill it in but add a note that there was an error. Then also fill in the section which say you are attaching a paper IHT205 with the correct figures on.
How big is the error? Does the error mean the figures on IHT205 do not add up correctly?
If the error in the final figure is small and the figures still add up, one option might be just to transfer the gross and net estate figure you did end up with on IHT205 to the probate form and see if it goes through as normal.

It also seems you can register the estate a 2nd time online if you made a mistake in names etc. see here:

    https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/inheritance-tax/estate-report

    'Help with your estate reports
If you made errors in personal details You do not need to inform HMRC of any changes or errors in names, numbers, addresses or dates, or the removal or addition of executors.
You must ensure the executors are listed correctly on the probate application.
If you personally need an estate report with amended personal details you will need to register the estate again.'
