Default - Original Lender plus Debt Collection agency

I have just had a default removed which was MBNA. My debt from MBNA was sold to Link financial but that default is still showing on my credit report. I was of the understanding that the you can only have one default per debt. Should the default from Link financial be removed from my credit report? If yes should I raise a dispute?

The Link default should be the same date as the MBNA one.

I think you're going to struggle to get it removed as MBNA would have had to default the account in order to sell it.

But always worth having a go.

Yes, Link can put the default on so long as the date is the same as the original MBNA date.

The MBNA default date was 31/12/13 so I am surprised it has dropped of my credit report already.
Thank you I will contact Link to align the dates so hopefully that will then remove from credit report.

It's not dropped off but probably moved to the "closed accounts" section if they've sold it on.

Yes that's correct. The Link default should be the same and will therefore drop off your credit reports at the end of the month.

Check the three main ones at the end of January. Link should no longer appear.
