We was with Eon a few years ago and had a smart meter fitted. We then changed to E energy where they still worked but showed their tariff. There was no standing charge with E so the electricity was 20 changing to 14 and gas 9 changing to 3.5. We then changed to Bulb and it still showed this rate.
We have just joined EON again and have been told by them it will take around 40 days for the smart meter to again show the correct tariff as it will again be able to communicate with EON.
Is this correct.

    We have just joined EON again

    Moving from Bulb to Eon is a strange one. Are you sure that is viable? Usually, its the other way around.

    Hello Rijam and a Happy New Year.

    Thank you for returning to us. The data available on the In Home Display (IHD) will depend on the type of smart meter and IHD you have. We're currently starting to upgrade SMETS1 smart meters so they can be managed in the same way as the newer SMETS2 meters. This includes restoring previously lost smart features.

    There are some early installations where this won't be possible. These are mainly smart meters fitted from 2014 and before. In these cases, we'll ask to fit a new SMETS2 meter.

    Upgrades will be carried out remotely so there'll be no need to visit your home. Once done, the IHD will be updated as part of making the meter smart again. Not sure about the 40 days quoted as this is an ongoing project that we're looking to complete nationally by the end of the year.
